Analog Age

oil, 16x20.

My painting midterm. I decided to base it around all of the outdated equipment
I use. I don't know if this photograph represented the painting so accurately, its a little dark in places, but I couldn't seem to fix it. I'm kind of sad that a radio isn't included, but I did paint radio waves in there.

ONCE BITTEN, TWICE DEAD!!!!!

My cousin Donny illustrates book covers, and he asked if I had any zombie friends that I can take pictures of. So I took this picture of Doug, Jamie, Mark, Steve, and Chris. You can see bits and pieces of everyone except for Mark.

thanks andrea, for the heads up on posting this.

Recent Roll: a little shaky

These guys, putting up those flappy things.
This picture seemed like a great idea at the time.

I dont know if you know about these guys, but they're nuts. They post up all around the city and count people. That thing he has his hands on is the counter, and they tally busses, cars, and people as they go by. Only Russians do it. No one else can handle it. Here's an article on them:

Can I Scream One Time Bobby?

After struggling with homework for a bit, I decided to stop doing the homework, and start making this small James Brown drawing. I guess I was inspired by record diggin for a solid part of the day. I'm not sure that Art Nouveau text really fits, but it'll do.

PAPAYA DOG - PIMPIN' AIN'T EASY

This was a guy inside Papaya Dog. I first noticed he was interesting when he came in and asked the guys behind the counter for a hotdog. Then he got denied. Five minutes later he comes back in because some lady offered to buy him three hotdogs. He seemed pretty psyched. Pimpin ain't easy.

Blog exclusive!

Paul notified me of three paintings that were out in the trash, this is one of the gems I picked up. I painted in a few details that werent on the original, I know it been done before, but I've never altered a painting myself. This was really fun, you get a nice palette to look at. Its actually some kind of learning experience I think

sketchbook, day 1 of many

I was sitting on a bench on the east river. I saw this guy walking towards me and thought he looked good to draw as he was walking, but he sat down, disrupting my drawing, but helping me in the end I think.

This is the man I aspire to be someday, a smart guy with a dry sense of humor. . .

Some new fartwork. This is for my Principles of Illustration class. The assignment was to use artificial light, so I thought to use a refrigerator as the source.
